My Life @ 30 Series
I had this idea of painting watercolor Illustrations of the different job friends of mine and myself had when we were 30 years old. I was a bartender, a friend of mine cut hair, another friend started a bakery, etc., etc. It was interesting to me because I would incorporate recognizable art references in the background, as most of my friends have art degrees and weren’t using them in the way that their degree would have intended. It was a literal way of showing their background in their chosen profession.
I incorporated the background of a Edouard Monet called, A Bar at the Folies-Bergère into an illustration of myself showing what I was doing with my life at 30 years of age.

This illustration of my friend Kelsey. I incorporated into the background of Guernica, by Pablo Picasso. To me, the painting represents conflict. Every artist feels conflict when branching out from whats was safe to what interests them for the future. She has an Interior Design Degree but she is super successful in Cosmetology, probably was a tough choice to branch out but she made it work. I couldn’t be prouder of her for all her accomplishments.
